The Midland Studio College is a school designed to help young people succeed at work. It will be sponsored by North Warwickshire & Hinckley College and form a part of a national chain of studio schools, supported by the Studio Schools Trust. Studio schools were introduced by the last government – six have now been opened in the UK with the potential for a further 12 opening in 2012.
Studio schools are different from traditional education in one very important way: they offer continual work experience from Year 10 to Year 13 and give young people a head start on being ready for work. They also use personal coaching and small classes to help young people achieve their full potential. The maximum number of students in the whole school is 300.
